Open Records Requests

Under the Georgia Open Records Act (OCGA §50-18-70 to §50-18-77) all public records are available for inspection and copying unless they are specifically exempted from disclosure under the law. If a government agency or custodian of public records withholds a public document from production under an Open Records Request, they will cite to the provision of Georgia law that exempts the record from being produced.

All Open Records Requests to view or copy records must be submitted in writing. The school district will respond to the request, providing available and legally permissible information, within three business days of receipt by the Open Records Officer. If the information cannot be provided within this timeframe, the Open Records Officer will issue a written explanation.

As of Thursday, May 1, 2025, the Office of Open Records will only accept requests via the FCS OPEN RECORDS REQUEST PORTAL. Please note: we will NO longer accept requests via the email address openrecords@fultonschools.org.

You are welcome to ONLY check the status of your pending ORR’s responsive material via email at openrecords@fultonschools.org. Please allow 5–7 business days for a response.
